Movies
I love movies or I USED to love to go to the movies and/or watching movies. I guess I still do but it's something that is done so infrequently that I think I have forgotten how much I like them.
Adam and I were just talking the other day about how it was so sad that we (or I, rather) were so excited that a show was coming on t.v. that we wanted to watch. When we were dating - we RARELY watched t.v. for anything other than watching movies. The only thing we regularly watched was 120 minutes on MTV. I'm giving my age away here cause this was when what's his name was on there - Ricky Rocket or whatever. WHAT was his name!??! Anyway, it was before that Matt bald-headed dude even. LONG time ago, okay!?
We would usually go out to dinner or have dinner with friends at their house and then go home and pop in a movie or GO to a movie. I can remember us not thinking anything weird about going to see several movies in one day! Wow.
Even when we would go to the video store - sometimes we would have to leave empty handed because we had seen EVERYTHING that was out. That just seems CRAZY to me now.
My brother came by earlier today and for some reason I found a way to work in the comment - Not enough room to swing a cat - and THAT made me think of the movie Down By Law and I asked Trey if he had seen it. The answer was "no". It was at that point that I became obsessed. Thinking of that movie and how good it is and how often Adam and I watched it and of course that lead to the movie Stranger than Paradise and Mystery Train and so on and so forth. I could go on for quite a while here .. but I won't.
I miss that! I miss watching movies with a bottle of wine and some popcorn and my man by my side. I miss just vegging out and not worrying about a kid waking up or being so damn tired that I can't even make it past the opening credits. How cool would it be to just lounge around and watch movie after movie - - no matter WHAT time of day it was. Or to GO to a movie during the middle of the day!?!!? I get woozy just thinking about it.
*sigh*
Times have certainly changed. I guess those things are possible again at some point. I just hope that by the time it IS possible our love for the movies will not have been dormant for so long that the desire is no longer there. That would be a shame. Guess we could always go the pay-per-view route but that just kinda makes me queasy thinking about it.
