Allergic to allergies

Poor Emme. She has got the allergies BAD! I ended up taking her in to the doctor yesterday because she has been suffering so with the swollen eyes, drippy nose, etc. and it had then turned into a cough followed by a bit of pukage.

So, after sitting in the waiting room for an HOUR AND A HALF *grr* - we were walked to the back to be told that she had severe rhinitis and tonsillitis secondary to allergies. Thankfully, her ears were fine. They believe - as do I - that she puked due to all the drainage. So we were presented with a prescription for Zyrtec (2 times a day), Singulair (once a day), an antibiotic and nasal spray. By the time I walked out of there, we had been there for 2 hours and 10 minutes. NOT FUN! Trust me on that!

Olivia immediately fell asleep in the car so we just came on home. Emme fell asleep shortly there after.

Adam and Sophie come home a bit later and I tell him that I'm going to go take the prescriptions to the drugstore and go to the grocery store. Emme is obviously feeling a little bit better after her dose of nasal spray and tylenol. I'm thinking that all may be okay.

Drop off the scripts at the drugstore and walk next door to the grocery store (where of course I look like crap and proceed to run into 3 people I know! Ugh. WHY?? One of them was my brother though so I guess that doesn't count. ) After getting the groceries - walk over to the drugstore and ask for the meds.

The girl rings it up and says "Whoa. Uh, that'll be $208.97."

~THUNK~

At this point, I believe I shit and fell back in it.

I regain my composure a bit and actually say to the girl ....

"are you shitting me?"

she shakes a slow but steady no.

I can't freaking believe it!!! For THREE medicines it's almost the amount of our CAR NOTE?!?! WHAT the hell???

I scribble out something on the check (still need to check on that) and stagger out of there to where I immediately call Adam.

After the initial news and after some muffled expletives and a bit of what sounds like books hitting the floor - he is pissed! As am I. That is INSANE!!! First of all, I wanna know what the HELL the nurse practitioner was thinking when she wrote that and WHY the hell she thought we could afford it and/or why didn't she AT LEAST let me know how much it would be??

Christ on a cracker!! That is CRAZY!

I think I am still somewhat in shock about it because I can't seem to form the words that I truly feel. Scary, isn't it?
All I know is that this shit better work - and IMMEDIATELY!
